As a Kansas native, Dr. Mackenzie Johnson joined the Animalia team in 2026 and now calls Middle Tennessee home! After receiving her B.A. in Biology from William Jewell College, she completed her education at Kansas State University where she received her doctorate in veterinary medicine.

Following graduation, Dr. Johnson served as a Public Health Officer in the United States Air Force during the COVID-19 pandemic. While serving active duty, she attended Chi University and received her Veterinary Acupuncture Certification. Dr. Johnson completed a small animal rotating internship at Bulger Veterinary Hospital in Lawrence, MA, where she then worked for two additional years as a small animal general practice veterinarian. She has developed a love of integrative medicine and a special interest in senior pet health and preventive medicine. Outside of her career, Dr. Johnson can be found traveling, hiking, reading a good book, and spending time with her Bernedoodle, Gertrude!
